Here are some of the most popular Vermont Winter Events and Festivals:

Stowe Winter Carnival: This carnival is held in Stowe, VT, in January and features ice carving competitions, snow golf, snow volleyball, a chili cook-off, and more

Book your Stowe lodging reservations in advance, this is a busy weekend on Mt. Mansfield, and in Stowe Village, many of the better Stowe Inns, Resorts, and Lodges are sold out in advance. Traveling to Stowe by car? Check your tires – Vermont roads can be slick and the state is conserving salt which can make for a dangerous situation if you run into snow or ice with summer or all-season tires.

Winter Trails Day: This event is held in various locations throughout Vermont in January and offers free snowshoeing and cross-country skiing lessons, as well as guided tours. This Vermont Outdoor Event has been a tradition for decades. Check the Vermont Green Mountain Club website to confirm this year’s date.

Smugglers’ Notch Resort Brew & Ski Weekend

December 8-10, 2023 and March 29-31, 2024

Vermont has the highest number of breweries per capita. The Smuggs’ BrewFest is a great time to sample local brews and enjoy the mountain of fun! Highlights are some of our Vermont’s excellent breweries plus regional favorites and craft ciders.

The Smugglers’ Notch Resort BrewFest showcases a mix of local craft and regional brews as well as classic favorites!

A DJ spins the tunes and the Resort’s Mountain Grille provides an appetizer buffet. From 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm in the Meeting House. Vermont Pond Hockey Championships: This championship is held on Lake Morey, in Fairlee, VT. This annual winter event takes place in February and features over 100 teams competing in a pond hockey tournament.

Vermont Maple Open House Weekend: This event is held in St. Albans, St. Johnsbury, and at various locations throughout Vermont in March and offers visitors the opportunity to tour sugarhouses, taste maple syrup, and learn about the maple sugaring process.
